How it works
New Zealand employment law doesn't mandate overtime pay rates — those are set by employment agreements. Common standards are time-and-a-half for overtime hours and double-time for public holidays worked.
Formula
Overtime earnings = normal hours × hourly rate + overtime hours × (hourly rate × overtime multiplier). Time-and-a-half = 1.5× rate. Double-time = 2× rate.
